BB gun cartridge on bus forces Brewster schools lockdown
SOUTHEAST - Brewster schools were placed in a modified lockdown as a precaution this week after a driver found an empty BB gun cartridge on a school bus after returning to the bus garage, school officials and police said today.

Helen Hayes chief to retire after 20 years
Magdalena Ramirez was working as a midlevel director for the state Department of Health when she was asked whether she wanted to become chief executive of a rehabilitation hospital in Rockland. That was nearly 20 years ago. Ramirez, who is retiring from Helen Hayes Hospital at the end of this month, said she never expected to stay at the state-run facility that long.

Rockland details early-retirement plan

Cop impersonator robs woman at gunpoint on Taconic, police say
State police are searching for a man who, while impersonating a police officer, stopped a woman on the Taconic State Parkway and robbed her at gunpoint. The incident took place around 5:45 p.m. Saturday on the northbound side, just south of the Croton Reservoir, police said.
