'Zoo from Hell' trial begins in W. Haverstraw
A 59-year-old homeowner's trial on animal cruelty charges accusing him of having a"zoo from hell" on his property opened yesterday before a West Haverstraw Village Court jury. Rockland County prosecutor Anthony Dellicarri told the jury that Robert W. Everle committed a crime by willfully neglecting hundreds of animals.

Many find survey's categories a forced fit

Kitchen closed over unapproved well water
The Rockland Department of Health has ordered the kitchen at the Bobover Yeshiva where a cow was slaughtered and strung from a tree shut down effective today. County officials took action against the school because it has been using water from an unapproved well since it began operating without a permit more than two years ago, according to records obtained by The Journal News.
