The corpse of what is thought to be a teenage girl was found on fire in the parking lot of a Monsey park Monday morning, the second homicide in Rockland in three days.
A Manhattanville College student-athlete, the daughter of a college maintenance worker, was found dead in the college's staff housing Monday, a source told The Journal News. Police said it was a homicide. The student lived on campus with her parents; her mother was found unconscious, according to the source with knowledge of a staff meeting held Monday afternoon.
Westchester County Legislator Gordon Burrows, in his first public comments since facing drug charges upstate, on Monday said he has no plans to step down. In an interview with The Journal News before Monday night's meeting, the Yonkers Republican called the situation"a sensitive matter" and said he was limited in his ability to talk about specifics of the charge because the legal process is ongoing.
