MOUNT VERNON— The Police Department will begin its latest crime-enforcement blitz today in an area bounded by Mount Vernon Avenue, West First Street, MacQuesten Parkway and West Lincoln Avenue. There will be traffic detours from the early evening to the morning. Previous blitzes occurred in October and in May 2009. Operation Protect III is expected to last four to six weeks.
